Aurora, N.Y. — October 19 —In collaboration with Battalion 5 and 6, the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department conducted a Moving Big Water exercise at the village's southernmost point. Departments were able to test coordination, equipment, and flow capacity during the extensive rural water supply exercise. Aurora's new tanker was put through extensive performance testing during the event.
Mutual aid partners included Scipio Fire Department, which supplied Aurora’s Quint from four ponds, while Moravia Fire Department’s mini operated a jet siphon. Additional tankers from Poplar Ridge, King Ferry, Genoa, Long Hill, Locke Fire & Rescue, Sempronius, New Hope, West Niles, and a demo tanker from Colden Fire/Rescue participated. Genoa Engine 1 managed a fill site at Long Point, and King Ferry Engine 1 operated another at Ellis Point, efficiently refilling tankers as they cycled through.
