Cambridge, Mass. — November 4 —A reported machinery fire on CambridgePark Drive prompted the transmission of Box 7741 just before 8:00 a.m. After finding a hydraulic/mechanical construction lift with a runaway motor causing a lot of smoke and heat, Division 2 ordered the box.
Firefighters from Engines 4, 8, and 9; Ladders 4 and 2; Squad 4; Rescue 1; and Division 2 operated at the scene. Two attack lines were used to cool the equipment, while crews used power saws to cut through a heat-damaged access panel to shut down the fuel and air supply.
No exposures were threatened, and no injuries were reported. Pro EMS Ambulance 14 stood by as a precaution. Deputy Chief Donovan served as Incident Commander, with Group 4 on duty.
