WALTHAM, MA — The Waltham Fire Department (WFD) rescued a 47-year-old man from a fire at 111 Circle Drive shortly after midnight on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Fire crews were dispatched at 12:25 a.m., and the first arriving unit, Engine 8, found heavy fire showing and an occupant at a window requiring immediate rescue. A second alarm was ordered to support firefighting operations.
The resident was safely rescued using a ladder, with assistance from the Waltham Police Department, and was transported by the Armstrong Medic Unit for evaluation and treatment. Fire crews used a transitional attack to control the heavy fire and then conducted an interior search. During the primary search, a deceased dog was located and removed from the home.
The Waltham Fire Prevention Bureau, the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Waltham Police Department conducted an investigation into the fire. The cause has been ruled undetermined.
First alarm units on scene included Car 2, Engine 8, Engine 2, Rescue 1, Tower 1, and Engine 7 (Rapid Intervention Team). Second alarm units included Ladder 2, Engine 1, Engine 3, Engine 4, and Squad 5, along with an additional ambulance. Command staff responding included C1 and C3. Mutual aid companies provided coverage for the city during fire operations.
