Ladder Company 3 Wraps Up Operations at Below-Grade Fire Scene

Cambridge, Mass. — October 28 —Prior to cleaning up the equipment and going back into service, Ladder Company 3 cleared the area of the Main Street below-grade insulation fire and performed exposure checks in the nearby buildings.
The incident earlier in on October 28th involved smoldering pipe insulation in a utility excavation, which was extinguished by Engine 2, Ladder 3, Rescue 1, Squad 2, and Division 1 under Group 3. Ladder 3’s follow-up ensured no residual heat or hidden extension remained in surrounding structures—part of the department’s standard post-incident procedure.
