This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Brookhaven, N.Y.- On a recent Friday evening the Brookhaven Fire Department hosted a Fire Prevention night at their station 1 on Camp Upton Rd. Members of the community were invited out to see the fire house as well as the equipment. Firefighters also set up some activities for the families and their children. These activities included being able to use a fire hose , showing the community the departments drone , tours of the various trucks and more. There were also various demonstrations including a Vehicle extrication and live fires like a grease fire and a vehicle fire. A special presentation was also given by Retired Fire Marshal Brett Martinez and his retired K-9 Sasha as they went over how the K9's are trained to find accelerants. Sasha and Brett retired a few months ago from the Suffolk County Fire Marshals office and the agency is currently in the process of training a new K-9. Overall the event was a great experience for those who came out.
