Weare, NH - Firefighters from Weare Fire Rescue deployed specialized wildland apparatus to the Town of Loudon on Sunday, fulfilling a special mutual aid request for personnel as regional crews battled day two of a stubborn 10-acre brush fire in Merrimack County.
Forestry 1 responded on Sunday, November 1, 2026, staffed by a two-person crew, traveling from Hillsborough County into Merrimack County to reinforce incident commanders managing the expanding wildland burn.
The incident, which originated late Saturday evening in remote wooded terrain off Lovejoy Road, required sustained inter-agency manpower to establish containment lines and suppress lingering fire across the massive burn scar.
Upon arrival, the Weare crew was assigned to intensive mop-up operations, navigating the perimeter with forestry equipment to saturate deep-seated embers, drench smoldering duff, and prevent flare-ups fueled by dry autumn ground cover.
Operating personnel worked continuously through the morning and afternoon before clearing the scene shortly after 3:30 p.m.
