Long Beach, N.Y. — October 15 — The City of Long Beach Fire Department responded to Montgomery Boulevard in Atlantic Beach for a reported deck collapse with one injured. Atlantic Beach Rescue units treated a patient who suffered a head injury after the deck gave way during repair work. Tower Ladder 2372 and Heavy Rescue 232 secured the area to prevent further collapse.
The patient was transported by Atlantic Beach Rescue Ambulance 369 to the foot of the Atlantic Beach Bridge, where a Nassau County Police Department helicopter conducted a medevac to Nassau University Medical Center. Engine 2342 established the landing zone. All operations were under the command of Assistant Chief Hadrick Ray.
