Chaffee, N.Y. — November 2 — The Chaffee-Sardinia Volunteer Fire Company held its annual Halloween standby, providing community coverage throughout the evening while also participating in seasonal activities. Members began the night outside the Sardinia Town Hall, handing out candy to trick-or-treaters.

Later, interior firefighters took part in a friendly turnout gear and SCBA donning contest, showcasing the speed and efficiency required when responding to emergencies. The evening wrapped up back at the station with a showing of Halloween Kills.

The department noted that the standby offers a chance to remain ready for calls while also engaging with the community in a positive, informal setting.
