October 7, 2025 — Chief Nick Morosco of the Yorkville Fire & Hose Company was among 126 firefighters honored Tuesday at the 28th Annual New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony at the Empire State Plaza in Albany.

Chief Morosco’s name was added to the memorial wall, joining those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Members of the Yorkville, Whitesboro, New York Mills, Willowvale, and Utica Fire Departments attended the ceremony alongside the Morosco family to honor and remember his service. Also recognized during the ceremony were Chief Russell Brooks of the Utica Fire Department and Firefighter Larry Zeigler of the Boonville Fire Department.

Yorkville Fire expressed deep appreciation to Chief George Massarotti of New York State Fire for serving as liaison, and to the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services and the Office of Fire Prevention and Control for organizing the meaningful tribute.

Local officials, including Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon and Senator Joe Griffo, were also in attendance to pay their respects.

“Chief Morosco’s legacy of leadership, courage, and service will never be forgotten,” the department said in a statement.
