Windham, N.H. — October 30 — The Windham Fire Department and Emergency Management services were dispatched to a fatal motor vehicle collision occurring near 94 Range Road.Initial notification of the incident was received by the Derry Fire Communications Center at approximately 10:37 a.m.Subsequent regional alerts confirmed the nature of the event as a crash involving vehicle entrapment and identified one patient who remained unresponsive in proximity to Route 111A.

Windham Police, Windham C-2, Engine-3 and A-1 responded. Ambulance-1 arrived and reported one occupant trapped inside a vehicle with moderate to heavy front-end and driver’s-side damage. Automatic aid from Salem Fire was requested.

Assistant Chief Brady assumed command of the incident. While Engine-3 mobilized to prepare for extrication, Emergency Medical Services began assessing the driver, who sustained life-threatening injuries, prompting an immediate request for air medical support with Griffin Park designated as the landing zone. Concurrently, Windham Engine-2 responded to secure the perimeter, whereas Pelham Fire was initially tasked with providing assistance before being redirected to ensure adequate station coverage.

Following the completion of extrication efforts, the patient suffered a traumatic arrest, necessitating the cancellation of air medical services and the redeployment of Engine-2 to the scene to augment personnel. Concurrently, Salem firefighters assessed two occupants of the involved box truck, both of whom declined any further medical intervention.

Although medical intervention was administered, the driver ultimately succumbed to their injuries. Range Road remained inaccessible for several hours while firefighters, emergency medical services personnel, and law enforcement officers conducted their response operations. Subsequently, the Accident Reconstruction Teams from the Windham and Derry Police Departments undertook their investigation prior to the removal of both vehicles from the scene.
