Pittsburgh, PA - Emergency personnel from the Green Tree Volunteer Fire Company responded late Thursday night to a single-vehicle collision along West Manilla Avenue, where a car sheared an electrical utility pole and came to rest on an embankment.
Crews aboard 163 Rescue were dispatched just before 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, for a reported motor vehicle accident in the 100 block of West Manilla Avenue.
First-arriving responders discovered that a passenger vehicle had veered off the roadway, sheared a wooden utility pole at its base, and come to a stop precarious on an adjacent hillside.
The driver had managed to self-extricate from the wreckage prior to the arrival of apparatus and was immediately evaluated by responding emergency medical services personnel.
Firefighters secured the surrounding area to check for downed, energized power lines and structural electrical hazards, stabilized the vehicle on the slope to prevent secondary shifting, and cleared shattered utility components and automotive debris from the roadway before restoring the corridor and returning the rescue company to service.
