Rutland, Vt. — October 19 — Members of the City of Rutland Fire Department’s C-Shift spent time working on pump operations as part of the process toward qualifying new engine operators. The training focused on building confidence at the pump panel, including establishing water flow, adjusting pressures, and coordinating with crews operating hoselines on scene.
Pump operation is considered a core fireground skill and requires consistent practice to maintain reliability during emergency response. The department noted that routine, hands-on training ensures operators can perform effectively under pressure.
