Rutland, Vt. — October 7 — C-Shift members of the Rutland Fire Department conducted ground ladder training, focusing on the 35-foot portable ladder often used to access upper floors of commercial and older residential structures. Firefighters practiced removing the 130-pound ladder from the apparatus, carrying it to the building, and raising it to full height as a single-firefighter evolution. The drill concluded with a climb in full gear and air pack while carrying a hand tool, reinforcing real-world fireground conditions
