Pawlet, Vt. — October 14 — Firefighters from the Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department and the West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department visited Mettawee Community School for their annual fire safety lesson. Students learned about planning a home escape route, choosing a family meeting place, and testing smoke alarms regularly. A well-known fire safety mascot also joined the visit, helping make the lesson memorable and comfortable for young learners.
The department encouraged parents to continue the conversation at home by reviewing what their children learned, practicing a family fire drill, and pressing the “test” button on smoke detectors to ensure they are working properly.
