February 28, 2026 — Emergency responders from the East Burke Fire Brigade and Lyndon Rescue were dispatched at approximately 10:38 p.m. for a remote rescue following a snow sliding accident in the Burke area that left one person with neck and shoulder injuries. Responding crews determined that the injured individual was located approximately 100 yards into a wooded area and down a steep embankment, requiring specialized rescue operations to reach and safely remove the patient. Additional assistance was requested from West Burke Fire Department, which responded with an all-members assist to support the challenging nighttime operation. Firefighters and rescue personnel navigated deep snow and difficult terrain while establishing lighting and equipment in the wooded area to stabilize the patient and prepare for extraction. Crews carefully coordinated the rescue effort to safely bring the injured person out of the wooded area for further medical care. The response highlighted the importance of coordinated mutual aid and specialized remote rescue capabilities when incidents occur in hard-to-reach locations during nighttime conditions.
