GLOUCESTER, TWP., NJ - On November 1, 2025, at 2:13 A.M., the Camden County Fire Alarm Room dispatched Gloucester Twp. companies and automatic aid units to 1501 Little Gloucester Road for the report of an apartment fire at the Autumn Ridge Apartments.

The Autumn Ridge Apartment complex is acres large and consists of many large apartment buildings. First units to arrive reported heavy smoke showing from the “C” building with reports of victims trapped and others who needed assistance in evacuating. The C building at the Autumn Ridge Apartments is a four-story (4-story in front, 3-story in the rear), wood-frame building containing about 40 apartment units.

On arrival, PD and FD units immediately went into rescue mode and began the process of rescuing and evacuating residents. Five people were reported injured. One victim was in critical condition and one firefighter was treated for burn injuries.

At 2:20 A.M., the All Hands signal was transmitted as all units were engaged in the fire fight. At 2:23 A.M., the second alarm was transmitted, and at 2:33 A.M., the third alarm was transmitted.

The fire quickly made its way to the roof area and several aerial ladder companies were put into service and several engine companies were needed to deliver water to the fire ground from over 1000’ away. There was no access to the rear of the apartment building (Side C) for fire apparatus which complicated the fire suppression efforts.

At 3:00 A.M., due to the deteriorating conditions of the building, the emergency evacuation signal was activated to withdraw the troops from the building and transition to a defensive attack.

Fire units battled the fire for about 4 hours before placing it under control at 6:19 A.M. The fire is under investigation.

It was later reported that one victim succumbed to their injuries.
