Bethpage, N.Y. — October 22 — Wednesday evening traffic slowed on Route 135 after a truck fire broke out just north of Hempstead Turnpike. Bethpage Fire Department units — Engines 905, 9044, 9077, and Ladders 3 and 4 — responded and quickly extinguished the blaze.
Firefighters contained the fire to the vehicle’s engine compartment, preventing further spread. Nassau County Police Highway Patrol assisted with traffic control. No injuries were reported, and the roadway was reopened soon after.
