Greensboro Bend, Vt. — October 28, 2026 — Greensboro Bend firefighters arrived at a porch fire on Main Street at 10:58 p.m. where the homeowner's prompt deployment of a fire extinguisher helped contain the blaze before it could spread further

Greensboro Fire Department arrived first. Fire crews discovered a porch exterior that was burned and smoldering trash located near the porch edge. Engine 2 deployed an attack line and rapidly extinguished the remaining embers.

Hardwick Fire Department received a request for additional support. Firefighters set up a water supply by drawing from Hardwick Tanker straight to Engine 2, which let crews keep wetting down the area and stop it from spreading more.

Firefighters separated the smoldering debris and thoroughly soaked it while moving it away from the building. The homeowner's early use of a fire extinguisher helped stop the fire from spreading and prevented a larger incident.

Hardwick Emergency Rescue Squad and the Orleans County Sheriff's Department also assisted with the response. All apparatus and personnel were clear within an hour.
