FALL RIVER, MA - Just before sunset on November 1st, firefighters in Fall River were dispatched to 300 Amity Street, apartment 301, for a report of a curtain on fire. Engines 2, 4 and 5, along with Ladders 2 and 4, Rescue 1 and Car 3 were dispatched for the still alarm. Car 3 arrived and reported smoke showing from the second floor and attic of a multi-unit apartment building. All occupants were outside when firefighters arrived, however this building consisted of several townhouse style apartments which required each unit to be evacuated. Access to the fire apartment was hampered by locked chains across fire lanes which delayed fire attack.
