Hinsdale, N.Y. — Oct. 9 — Over the course of a few hours on Tuesday night, the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department responded to two consecutive mutual-aid calls, helping nearby departments with two active fires. At around 8:30 p.m., Hinsdale crews were alerted to a chimney fire in the district of the Mattydale Fire Department while responding to a medical call in their first-due area. Fire Control designated Engine 8 as a Signal 99 to respond to the working fire because they had the necessary manpower and equipment on hand.
As crews operated at the Mattydale scene, Hinsdale was again called upon at about 10:05 p.m. for an automatic move-up assignment to cover the South Bay Fire Department during another Signal 99 structure fire.Tanker 6 responded to take the alarm while multiple companies were committed on scene.
Hinsdale units returned to service around 2 a.m. after completing both assignments. Department leadership commended the teamwork and readiness demonstrated by members, noting that the dual response highlighted their commitment to regional support and mutual-aid cooperation.
