Jamestown, N.Y.—October 8— In recognition of Fire Safety Week, members of the Jamestown Fire Department Local 137 spent the morning at Fletcher Elementary School teaching students about fire prevention and emergency preparedness.

Firefighters spoke with students about creating home escape plans, understanding smoke alarms, and calling 911 in an emergency. Demonstrations included turnout gear and fire apparatus, helping students see what firefighters look like when responding to a fire — and reassuring them that the gear helps, not frightens.
