Binghamton, NY - A prompt and aggressive response by the Binghamton Fire Department prevented major structural loss Tuesday afternoon after an intense vehicle fire extended into an adjacent two-story home on Bevier Street.

Career personnel assigned to Group A were dispatched during the afternoon hours of Tuesday, October 27, 2026, for a reported vehicle fire at 102 Bevier Street.

Arriving on scene, the crew of Engine 4 encountered a passenger vehicle completely engulfed in flames, with active fire already impinging directly upon the exterior wall and extending upward into the siding of the adjacent residence.

Engine 4 immediately stretched a handline and launched a dual-purpose attack, knocking down the burning automobile while simultaneously dousing the siding to halt vertical fire progression. While suppression lines were operating, confirmation was received that all occupants inside the residence had successfully evacuated the building without injury.

Secondary crews made entry into the home to conduct a thorough search and utilize thermal imaging cameras to inspect interior wall cavities and living spaces for hidden fire extension.

Thanks to the fast intervention, the interior of the home was completely spared, and all structural damage was successfully confined to the exterior facade.
