Sturbridge, Mass. — October 21, 2025 — Firefighters from Sturbridge Firefighters Local 170 conducted a hands-on drafting and aerial operations drill Tuesday at the Long Pond Boat Ramp. The exercise involved Engine 1 supplying Tower 1 with water to operate its aerial master stream — a key skill for large-scale incidents where hydrants may be limited.

Firefighter Courtney worked on Tower 1 qualifications, while Firefighters Hurley, Peterson, and Tyler trained toward Engine 1 proficiency. Lieutenant Roderick led the drill, reviewing master stream tip sizes and gallons-per-minute flow rates to reinforce efficiency and accuracy during operations.
