— October 12, 2026 — The Oriskany Falls Fire Department responded to multiple calls, including an EMS incident, a lift assist, and a shed fire on State Route 26 in Augusta, during a busy day.
Firefighters reacted to the shed blaze, and 22 personnel responded to the scene. The department used a borrowed piece of equipment, Engine 2, supplied by the Madison Fire Department, which provided the initial water application on the fire.
Fire police also worked at the scene to help maintain safety for responding personnel and others in the area. All members who responded and supported the operation received the department's thanks.
The day’s activity followed earlier EMS and lift-assist calls, highlighting the range of work handled by volunteer emergency services personnel. In addition to responding to calls, firefighters maintain equipment, train for different incident types and prepare for the next dispatch. The department planned hands-on chimney fire training for the following evening, continuing its focus on practical skills and readiness.
