Bergenfield, NJ - Firefighters were called to 60 River Edge Rd shortly after 1:30am for a reported house fire where neighbors reported fire showing from the second floor. Chief Zadrozna arrived first on scene and confirmed a working fire on the second floor and fire though the roof. Engine 1 arrived moments later and stretched an 1.75" handline though the front door. Dumont Engine 4 arrived, followed by additional Bergenfield units and the initial interior crew started attacking the fire from the 1st floor. Englewood's engine arrived and stretched an additional handline as the fire consumed half of the second floor. Bergenfield truck 2 laddered the roof to ventilate and interior crews made a push to continue to knock down the heavy fire. A third line was stretched to the exterior to assist with the heavy fire load. It took firefighters under an hour to bring the fire under control. All residents were able to escape without any harm and no additional injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
