October 18, 2025 — The Varysburg Volunteer Fire Department has issued a public awareness announcement regarding a scheduled multi-department training drill taking place on Monday, October 20, in the Town of Orangeville.

The exercise will be held on Dunham Road, between Syler Road and Orangeville Center Road, beginning at approximately 6:45 p.m. The department advises motorists to use caution in the area, as fire equipment will be set up along the roadway and there will be increased fire apparatus traffic throughout the evening.

While crews will strive to keep one lane open, short-term closures may occur to ensure safety. Residents are asked to remain patient and drive carefully near the training area.

Chief Adam Vetter noted that the drill will simulate a structure fire and water supply operation, providing firefighters with valuable opportunities to refresh skills and train with the department’s new fire engine.

Those interested in observing are welcome but are asked to park safely away from the scene and give crews plenty of space to work.

“We appreciate the community’s understanding and cooperation as we continue to train and prepare for real emergencies,” Chief Vetter said.
