4 October 2025 — The Warsaw Fire Department is gearing up for Fire Prevention Week, with firefighter Bunker lending a hand in organizing children’s fire safety activities at Warsaw Elementary School.

This year’s National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) theme, “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home,” focuses on educating families about the safe use, storage, and charging of lithium-ion batteries commonly found in everyday devices such as phones, e-bikes, and power tools.

The department’s upcoming school programs aim to teach children the basics of fire safety, familiarize them with firefighters and their equipment, and promote awareness of emerging home fire hazards.

Fire Prevention Week runs from October 5–11, 2025, continuing a tradition of more than a century of fire safety education led by the NFPA and supported by local departments like Warsaw Fire.
