Etna, Pa.—October 20, 2025— Over the last few weeks, Etna Fire Department members have been attending a trench-rescue awareness and operations class with crews from the Butler V.A. Fire Department, the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company, and the Adams Area Fire District (James-Jimmy-Ellis Firehouse Station 42). The course ended today, and next week, participants will sit for the Pro Board certification exam.

The training covered the essential procedures for safe trench rescue work in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA 1006) standards, which specify the technician, operations, and awareness levels of technical rescue disciplines.
