Litchfield, CT - The day began with a pleasant morning as members of the Litchfield Fire Department participated in Fire Prevention Day at Center School. Around 10:45 a.m., crews were called to provide mutual aid in Bantam for an injured hiker. Firefighters assisted in safely removing the patient from the side of a large hill.
While that call was still ongoing at approximately 11:15 a.m., Litchfield Fire was dispatched to a second incident within their own district for an automatic crash notification. Upon arrival, crews discovered a phone on the side of the road but found no signs of an actual accident.
Later in the day, around 12:30 p.m., Litchfield Fire responded to Watertown as part of the Region 5 Dive Team. Firefighters spent several hours assisting police in a search operation at Winnemaug Lake. Crews returned home around dusk after a long and busy day of service.
