WALTHAM, MA - Waltham Fire received a call on October 27th for a chemical spill at Blossom Innovations located at 275 Second Avenue. Engine 2, Tower 1 and Medic 1 were dispatched. Initially, the small spill was believed to be formaldehyde with three individuals being light headed. It was then determined that it was either formaldehyde or xylene, so a Tier 1 hazmat response was called to the scene. Members of the State Department of Fire Services Hazmat response team investigated and found that it was most likely vacuum pump oil with low levels of VOCs. None of the light headed individuals required medical attention.
