Pittsburgh, PA - A rapid, multi-company response brought an evening residential structure fire under control Saturday on Edgecliff Avenue before flames could spread throughout the home.

The initial alarm sounded at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026, dispatching the 264 Box assignment to the 600 block of Edgecliff Avenue after an emergency caller reported seeing active flames inside the residence. Responding units arrived quickly, with Assistant Chief 264 (Bauerstown) marking on location, confirming a working structural fire, and formally establishing incident command.

Operational control on the fireground was directed by Assistant Chief 259 (Undercliff). As crews made an aggressive push toward the seat of the fire, the crews of Engine 261 (Bauerstown) and mutual aid Engine 247 (Berkeley Hills) coordinated to establish an uninterrupted water supply and stretch an initial attack line to execute direct fire suppression.

Engine 259 and supporting mutual aid companies staged on Side A (front of the structure), standing by as suppression teams quickly knocked down the bulk of the fire. Once the main fire was extinguished, personnel deployed ventilation equipment to clear remaining smoke and toxic gases from the living areas.

With the situation rapidly stabilized and no remaining structural extension observed, command scaled back operational resources, releasing several companies while maintaining units on scene to assist investigators from the Allegheny County Fire Marshal's Office (ACFM), which has taken charge of determining the origin and cause of the blaze.
