Mastic Fire Department Battles House Fire, Rescues Cat

On Monday, October 12th, the Mastic Fire Department was activated for a reported house fire, with Firecom receiving multiple calls reporting the incident. Upon arrival, 5-12-30 observed fire showing from a second-floor window and the attic, prompting the transmission of a working fire. 5-12-1 and responding mutual aid companies began fire suppression efforts and conducted searches of the residence.

During the search, a Mastic Beach Fire Department lieutenant located a cat inside the home and safely removed it from the residence. After approximately one hour of operations, the fire was placed under control, and crews continued their efforts to ensure the scene was safe.
