Irondequoit, NY - Firefighters from the Point Pleasant Fire District mobilized before sunrise Saturday to provide critical automatic mutual aid suppression support at a working garage fire on Ellinwood Drive.

The emergency response was initiated shortly after 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, dispatching Point Pleasant Engine 112 alongside the District Chief and Deputy Chief into the neighboring Irondequoit Fire District.

Irondequoit Truck 170 arrived first on scene, encountering thick, pressurized smoke pushing out from both the attached garage and living quarters of the home, immediately transmitting a working fire condition.

Upon reaching the fireground, the crew of Point Pleasant Engine 112 caught a hydrant across the street to establish a continuous positive water supply and stretched attack lines to commence direct suppression. The Point Pleasant District Chief assumed the vital role of accountability sector officer to monitor operating personnel across the active scene, while the Deputy Chief reinforced Engine 112’s interior crew to spearhead knockdown and overhaul tasks.

The joint attack contained the spread of the flames and ensured hidden embers were fully extinguished, preventing the complete loss of the dwelling. No injuries were sustained by either the home's occupants or responding emergency personnel, with all mutual aid units packing equipment and returning to full operational service by 7:30 a.m.
