Colesville Fire Company Responds to Brush Fire Caused by Downed Wires

October 12, 2025 — Units from the Colesville Fire Company responded alongside the New Jersey Forest Fire Service to a brush fire along County Route 519 caused by downed power lines.

Firefighters worked to contain the fire while ensuring safety around the live wires until utility crews could secure the scene. Coordination with the Forest Fire Service was critical in preventing further spread of the flames due to dry conditions.

The incident serves as a reminder to residents to avoid downed wires and always assume they are live. Anyone encountering a similar situation should keep a safe distance and call 911 immediately.
