Middletown, Pa. — October 1, 2025 — The Londonderry Fire Company, based in Middletown, Dauphin County, held in-house training along the river Tuesday evening to practice setting up island packs using portable pumps.

The training focused on scenarios involving cabin fires on river islands within the department’s first-due area—locations accessible only by boat. Firefighters deployed portable pumps on docks and ran hoselines onto the islands to simulate fire-suppression operations in remote conditions.
