Stony Brook FIre Department Handles A Car Fire

Stony Brook NY- On Saturday October 24th at about 2:30 PM the Stony Brook FD responded to a report of a car fire in the parking lot of Michaels on Nesconset Hwy. Chief 33 arrived on scene and advised that he had no active fire showing.Chief 32 arrived a short time later and the chiefs advised that they would need to secure the vehicle. Engine 2 came into the parking lot and the crew went to work to cut the battery and double check the engine compartment. 5-A3-4 also responded in but was told they could take a signal 5. Ambulance 5A-3-18 was on scene and the crew supplied water for the firefighters who were operating at the scene and fire police also stood by in the parking lot. All units were back in service in under a half hour.
