October 10, 2025 - It is with great sadness that the Westwood Fire Company shares the passing of Fire Chief Dave Aberts. Chief Aberts served as the Fire Chief of the Thorndale Fire Company from 1995 to 2010 and was a Professional Firefighter with the City of Coatesville, where he retired in 2018.

Throughout his career, Chief Aberts was a respected leader and mentor who made a lasting impact on many within the Westwood Fire Company. In 2007, under the command of Chief Sly, he graciously provided housing for the company’s Rescue Truck, exemplifying his dedication to teamwork and community service.

The Westwood Fire Company joins colleagues, friends, and family in mourning the loss of a remarkable firefighter, leader, and friend.
