Livingston, NJ - Fire Prevention Week — the Livingston Fire Department’s favorite week of the year — was celebrated earlier this month as firefighters made their way around town visiting local schools and community groups. Their mission: to educate the next generation of firefighters on the importance of fire safety.
Assistant Chief “Firefighter Kevin” once again stole the show, sending students home with special “homework” to complete with their families — all part of the department’s ongoing effort to promote safety awareness at home.
This year’s theme, set by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), was “Charge into Fire Safety,” emphasizing the safe handling, charging, and storage of lithium-ion batteries. As technology continues to evolve and more everyday devices become battery-powered, the department reminded residents of the importance of understanding and preventing related fire risks.
Residents are encouraged to review the NFPA’s three key steps for battery safety, highlighted in the final photo of the department’s recap.
