Noxen, Pa. — October 22 — The Noxen Volunteer Fire Company (Station 101) declared that the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) has officially recognized them as a Pennsylvania Forest Fire Warden Crew.

Across Pinchot State Forest District #11, which encompasses Wayne, Susquehanna, Luzerne, Lackawanna, and Wyoming Counties, the designation broadens the department's operational capabilities in wildfire response and management. Noxen's team may also be called upon as part of the DCNR system to help other forest districts throughout the state when circumstances call for more resources.

The warden crew's diverse skill set, which supports both suppression and prevention efforts, includes Type 2 and Type 1 wildland firefighters as well as incident command and fire investigation specialists.
