Two Trauma Alerted After Airplane Crash in Ocala

(OCALA, FL.) October 17, 2023 – On Tuesday, October 17, at approximately 10:52 a.m., Ocala Fire Rescue responded to reports of an airplane crash at the Ocala International Airport, 1770 SW 60th Ave.


ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting), Engine 4, and Battalion Chief 11 arrived to find a single-engine airplane with wing damage and a small fuel leak on the north end of the field. Two occupants were inside.


Engine 4's crew and Marion County Fire Rescue medics removed the patients and prepared them for transport. Both occupants were transported to the hospital as trauma alerts.


The crews contained the fuel and stopped the leak. 


The Federal Aviation Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board, and the State Warning Point were notified of the incident.


Ocala Fire Rescue's Engine 1, Engine 6, Tower 1, and Deputy Chief; the Ocala Police Department; and additional Marion County Fire Rescue units also responded.
