Tyrone, PA - Department 31, Station 36, and Centre County Company 15 (Port Matilda) were dispatched for a reported commercial vehicle fire on Interstate 99 Southbound near the 53-mile marker, between Port Matilda and Bald Eagle.

Engine 34 responded to the scene along with Engine 33 from the borough, as well as units from Bald Eagle and Port Matilda.

Engine/Rescue 36 was the first to arrive and confirmed a working fire. Deputy 36 assumed command as crews began suppression operations.

Engine 33 arrived shortly after, followed by Centre 15 and Engine 34. Engine 34 supplied Engine/Rescue 36 with 1,000 gallons of tank water, while Bellwood Tanker 22 provided additional water support to units on scene.

The highway was temporarily closed to traffic during firefighting efforts and cleanup. One lane was later reopened as crews continued with vehicle removal and hazmat mitigation.
