Altoona, PA - Excelsior Fire Department extended its gratitude to partner agencies from Newburg, Lakemont, Allegheny Township, Gallitzin, and the Pennsylvania DCNR specialized firefighting crew for their outstanding efforts during the brush fire near the Horseshoe Curve yesterday afternoon. Thanks to the coordinated response, crews were able to quickly contain the fire and prevent further spread onto the mountainside above. The department also expressed appreciation to Norfolk Southern for its prompt action in halting train traffic in the area until firefighters brought the situation under control.
