Englishtown Fire Department Receives FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant
Chief O’Brien of the Englishtown Fire Department proudly announced that the department has been awarded the 2024 FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG). This federal grant will fund the purchase of essential, life-saving equipment for the department, including:
- 22 new Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBAs) and Cylinders
- 22 Facepieces
- 22 Spare Cylinders
- 1 Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) Pak
The new SCBAs will replace units that have been in service for nearly two decades, ensuring that Englishtown’s firefighters have the most up-to-date and reliable breathing equipment when responding to emergencies. Chief O’Brien emphasized that this type of funding is vital to both firefighter safety and community well-being.
“Federal support like the AFG program allows us to equip our firefighters with the best tools available while easing the financial burden on local taxpayers,” he said.
The department expressed its gratitude to FEMA and the AFG program for their continued investment in America’s fire service and looks forward to placing the new equipment into service soon.
