ALLAMUCHY, NJ - On October 17th at approximately 3:50 P.M., Allamuchy Fire Department was dispatched to the area of mile marker 21.6 eastbound on Interstate 80 for a possible motor vehicle accident with a car on fire.

Chief 91 responded immediately, and upon arrival, a vehicle was located off the roadway in the woods, not on fire. As Chief 91 sized up the scene, he informed dispatch and incoming units of a car versus tree, with a heavily entrapped driver.

Heavy Rescue 91-75, along with Rescue 91-74 and Utility 91-84, went responding within minutes of the initial dispatch. Upon arrival on scene, crews went to work stabilizing the vehicle, and extricating the patient. Due to the extent of injuries, Chief 91 requested a Medevac to land on the highway to transport the patient to a trauma center. Also requested was manpower from Hope Fire Department (38 Fire) for assistance with the landing zone and extrication efforts.

The patient was removed from the vehicle in short time and transferred to medical crews from Hackettstown First Aid and Rescue Squad, and Lakeland Emergency Squad.
