Car Ignites in Front of House in Massapequa

MASSAPEQUA, NY - During the early hours of October 15th, the Massapequa Fire Department was alerted for reports of a car fire on Mayflower Avenue. Tower Ladder 632, and Engines 6315 and 6303 were all quickly on the road.

Upon the arrival of TL-632 and 6303, they had an involved auto and advised 6315 to come in off Front Street. Upon the arrival of 6315, the crew stretched on the involved minivan and after a quick knockdown of the fire, they overhauled the vehicle.

Nassau County Police on the scene requested the Arson and Bomb Squad (ABS), and 6303 requested Nassau County Fire Marshal Fire Investigations Division to the scene as well. Units operated under the command of the 3rd Assistant Chief of the Department, Ryan Zimmerman. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and there were no reported injuries.
