SEEKONK, Mass. — October 5, 2026 — Seekonk firefighters responded to a residence on Fall River Avenue overnight after receiving a report of smoke coming from the building.

The first-arriving company requested a working fire assignment. Crews quickly located a small, contained fire in the kitchen, allowing the assignment to be reduced. Firefighters remained at the scene to ventilate the building and clear the remaining smoke.

The East Providence and Attleboro fire departments provided station coverage while Seekonk crews handled the incident. Seekonk police officers also assisted with traffic in the area, while Seekonk Communications supported the response. The incident took place during a particularly busy year for the Seekonk Fire Department. As of October 5, the department reported that it had exceeded 4,000 calls for service in 2026. When the announcement was made, the department was on track to surpass its prior annual record of 4,662 calls, established in 2025.

The department expressed gratitude to its mutual aid partners, police personnel, and communications staff for their support during the overnight response.
