Bordentown, NJ - Effective at 0700 hours on October 5, 2025, the staff of Bordentown Fire District #1 officially began their first 24-hour shift. The district’s career firefighters are now fully prepared to staff the apparatus and respond to emergencies within minutes.
The Board of Fire Commissioners expressed gratitude to the residents of Bordentown for their continued support in helping the department reach this significant milestone. The increase in staffing comes as part of the district’s response to the nationwide shortage of volunteer firefighters, a challenge that has also affected Bordentown Township.
Despite this shift toward a career-based model, the district continues to encourage community members who wish to serve to apply and join in supporting the community.
District officials emphasized that the career staff will train rigorously to ensure Bordentown receives the high level of fire protection it deserves. The Board of Fire Commissioners remains committed to pursuing grants and funding opportunities to minimize the financial impact on taxpayers.
As Bordentown Fire District #1 enters this new chapter, its members reaffirm their dedication to serving and protecting the community with professionalism and pride.
