BRIGANTINE, N.J. — October 2025 — The Brigantine Department of Fire and EMS has begun construction work at Station 1 this week, replacing the final remaining section of the station’s original firehouse apron.
The concrete section, first poured in 1973 when Station 1 was built, was never intended to bear the weight of modern fire apparatus. Decades of use have taken a toll, prompting the need for this long-overdue replacement.
In one of the project photos, police vehicles can be seen parked outside — a temporary measure while work continues on the front, interior portion of the firehouse.
“This investment ensures that Station 1 will continue to meet the operational needs of the department and the community for the next 50 years,” the department stated.
The project, funded by the City of Brigantine, reflects a continued commitment to maintaining critical infrastructure that supports the Department’s mission of protecting residents and visitors alike.
