The Hampton Fire & Rescue Department volunteers spent the day at McKeown School, teaching students essential fire safety and prevention skills as part of Fire Prevention Week.

Firefighters engaged with students on topics such as creating home escape plans, recognizing fire hazards, and understanding how to safely call for help during an emergency. These interactive sessions help ensure that children know what to do in the event of a fire — and that they share those lessons with their families.

“Teaching proper fire safety and educating the future is pinnacle in ensuring the safety of our communities,” the department shared.

The department continues to emphasize education as a key part of its mission to protect and serve Hampton and surrounding communities.
