Oct. 7, 2025 — Members of Tours 3 and 4 of the Westfield Fire Department took part in a hands-on training exercise this week, utilizing an acquired structure to practice critical ladder operations, search and rescue, and firefighter survival techniques.
A key focus of the session was the wall breach maneuver, a vital skill used by firefighters to escape or move between rooms when doors or windows are not accessible during an emergency. The exercise allowed members to simulate real-world conditions in a controlled environment, reinforcing confidence and readiness in high-stress situations.
Department officials emphasized that consistent, realistic training such as this is essential to firefighter safety and operational effectiveness, ensuring that personnel are fully prepared for any emergency they may face in the field.
